She also begins a relationship with Dick Grayson and even engages him, but she later ends it. During The Killing Joke storyline, Joker paralyzes Barbara due to which she retires from the mantle of Batgirl. She then operates as Oracle and later joins Birds Of Prey to help the heroes with her technical expertise.

After healing from her injuries, Barbara retakes the mantle of Batgirl. She is also good friends with Supergirl.
